One of the challenges with my weight loss journey was the fact that I was doing it alone. My wife has joined me finally. She doesn't need to lose weight, but she wants to eat healthier and exercise more. She really didn't have the time to take care of her own body since the birth of our daughter.

She was always supportive, but many times, we had to cook two different meals because she didn't want my awful food :) I'm not a great cook when it comes to cooking a healthy meal. I just throw-in whatever I can and usually mix them all. Over the last few months, I've learned to cook better by using simple recipes from other bloggers. I think I actually enjoying cooking now. My wife doesn't want me in the kitchen that much because I make a mess when I cook.

Anyway, my wife has decided to eat simpler meals with me and she will exercise with me as much as she can. I'm really glad we are on the same page.

It has been almost 4 months from the last post. I'm supposed to lose about 15 pounds by now. guess what? I've managed to lose weight down to 190 at the end of April and gain back almost 20 pounds back in last two months. Wow! this is much harder than I thought. The moment I stopped working out, the pounds started add up.

My baby girl, Candice was born in May and I couldn't exercise at all. My wife and I canceled the gym membership and purchased a used elliptical for us. So we can exercise at home. Now that the baby is settled own a bit, I have the time to exercise again. (excuse! excuse!)

I have to start again with my plans and goals. I was back to 210 in June, but I managed to lose 5 pounds at the end of June. I'm a bit embarrassed. Well, this blog is all about me struggling and battling against my 20 year old habit. So expect more setbacks..

Here I go again...yikes!

I didn't expect to fail this fast but I have to admit and move on. I'm completely being honest to myself. I just stopped eating healthy and got off from the track. No excuses. I have start from week 1 again and keep my words, lose 40lbs in 40 weeks.

I know I disappointed my friends and readers, but I'm not giving up.

But there's more challenge ahead. Because my wife is pregnant and I can't cook from home (at least for now) because of her morning sickness. We go out and eat and I gained even more weight than I started from. Shame on me!

Anyway, with more challenges, I'm restarting my 40 week diet plan once more. Will I fall this time? I don't intent to, but it will be challenging.

Please pray for me and keep following my progress.

If my body can talk, I wish it could tell me what I need to do in order to bring it back to its original shape when it was first created. I've tried so many things in the past that only trained my body to adopt to changes like a commando. I think my body has gained so much experience from my failed diet attempts.

My priority this time should be sticking to the plan and never give up even if I don't see the result. I have to admit that it will take extra weeks for me to change how my body reacts to my current diet program, just because it is so used to yo-yo dieting.

It may feel that I'm not losing any weight outside, but I know that my body has started to react to my new eating habits. I really need to keep up with the plan in order to lose 40 pounds in 40 weeks.

When I started my diet, I admitted that my biggest challenge over the course would be the mindset. I believe that mindset is one of the key elements to diet success. Without it, I feel that I will never achieve my goal.

I was searching for some solutions for this today and found a podcast that does exactly what I need. The podcast is called "Weight Loss and the Mind" by Shane James and Scott Paton.

I listened to three episodes so far. Today, I will have to come up with my mission statement and start a journal. Well, I've already started writing the journal online, so I can skip that part. But I really need to come up with my own mission statement, which is the basic foundation of my diet.

Anyway, the podcast focuses on training our mindset to lose weight, which is what I really need. I have like 50 more podcasts to listen to, how fun...

My wife recorded a whole series of the "Inside Brookhaven Obesity Clinic" show from TLC for me. I watched 3 episodes straight. Good thing that I can skip all the commercials :)

"Inside Brookhaven Obesity Clinic" is a TV show about people struggling to solve their morbidly obese problems at the clinic. Most of them are inches away from death, and yet many of them still don't understand the situation.

Many of them cheat the dieting program designed by the clinic by sneaking in fast foods and not following the exercise programs. I just couldn't understand why they aren't even trying to lose weight knowing that their weight will kill them in any time.

While filming the show, a lady who also cheat the program passed away from heart failure. The incident shocked many of the cheaters and changed their behaviors. But I have feeling that the impact will last for a few weeks. And they will go back to their regular habits.

Well, the lesson I learned from the show is that no matter how ready you are outside to lose weight, it's not going to happen unless your mind is ready. At the Brookhaven Clinic, they provide the best support anyone can get and the best tools to help them lose weight. And yet, not everyone's taking an advantage of that. Given the equal resources, the ones with strong will finishes the program and get their life back.

It is same for me. I have a membership to one of the best gyms and have access the best organic market in the U.S. I have all the resources I need to start dieting. But if I don't have the right mindset, I will fail no matter what. And that's where I lack the most.

That's the area where I need to improve the most if I want to stay fit even after I lose my weight. Just a thought for the day.
